Silkrute was born from one simple belief- "Everyone, Everywhere, should have easy access to Authentic Indian Products."
In 2016, we noticed a common challenge. People around the world loved Indian products—from groceries and Ayurveda to handicrafts and traditional goods—but finding genuine products outside India was often difficult. Limited availability, high shipping costs, and concerns about authenticity made the experience frustrating.
At the same time, thousands of talented Indian artisans, farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses were creating exceptional products but had limited opportunities to reach customers beyond India's borders. We saw an opportunity to solve both challenges with one platform.
Inspired by the ancient Silk Route that once connected civilizations through trade and culture, we envisioned Silkrute as a modern bridge connecting India's rich heritage with people across the globe. What started from a small room with just a few overseas orders has grown into a trusted cross-border ecommerce platform serving over 1 million global buyers and partnering with 20,000+ Indian vendors.
